Sporting has always been involved in charity work, either on its own or in partnership with other entities, responding to the needs of a huge variety of areas
In 2006, the club created Sporting Solidarity (Sporting Solidário), which, up until the creation of the Sporting Foundation, developed a range of noteworthy initiatives. Building on what Sporting Solidarity developed, the Sporting Foundation has taken on the mission of continuing to work on a wide collection of activities which reflect the club’s history and its relationship with the community.
Although founded on the 20th of December 2011, it was with the election of Sporting Clube de Portugal’s 42nd president, Bruno de Carvalho, in March 2013 that the Sporting Foundation really took on a new lease of life. The 2013-2014 sports season marked the “rebirth” of the Sporting Foundation, with the 2014-2015 season reaffirming its new position.
The main focal points of our initiatives are groups who are risk, such as children, youths and the elderly. In working with these groups, we have completely redefined the Sporting Foundation’s projects.
