Alvalade to expand into the Spanish market for the first time
January 2017 will mark an important milestone for the Sporting Academy Schools. For the first time, the Alvalade brand will expand into Spain, more specifically Madrid. After opening in Greece in a first move into the European market, Sporting CP now makes the short trip across the border thanks to an initiative with the Club's Spanish partner Total Planet Management, led by Manuel Ojalvo Martín.
"This is part of our growth plan and blends with our Spanish partner's idea", said Rui Reis in an interview about the deal, going on to give Luís Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo and examples of Sporting's success in the Spanish market: "They are our main triumphs in the case of Spain, but of course what we look to do is to work with young players. We are one of the best clubs in the world at doing that."
Manuel Ojalvo also praised the Alvalade football factory: "Sporting had to be in Spain and this is a very special day. We are really proud to be part of this family."
