A top-10 finish and two debuts for Sporting in the French capital
Alvalade judoka Sergiu Oleinic finished seventh in the Paris Grand Slam this week, after coming up just short of a bronze medal. Competing in the <66kg competition, Oleinic opened with a win against Sinan Sandal, before beating Sulaiman Hamad. Oleinic's run was eventually brought to a halt by Antoine Bouchard and Vazha Margvelashviki.
"I started well in my first two fights and the draw was kind to be as well. I was surprised a bit by the Canadian in the quarter-finals", said Oleinic at the end of the day.
Also in action were youngsters Maria Siderot and David Reis. In the <66kg competition, Reis missed out in his first encounter, but is a promising athlete to keep an eye on in the future. Meanwhile Maria Siderot (<48kg) won here first bout.
