After a 10-year drought, Madjer, Rui Coimbra and Tiago Petrony reclaim Euro Beach Soccer Cup
Madjer, Rui Coimbra and Tiago Petrony were part of a Portuguese beach soccer squad that won the Euro Beach Soccer Cup last week, being disputed in Belgrade.
Portugal, who are also world champions, beat Italy 6-3, with two goals from Madjer. "This trophy is down to the team spirit of this group. We knew we would have to be at the top of our game, because we are target for a lot of teams", said the Sporting captain at the end of the match.
Rui Coimbra also took a moment to speak with gathered radio journalists: "We are really happy. This win shows all the work we have been putting in and the quality that this group has. It reinforces our confidence and is good for the coming season. The secret to it was our team spirit, on top of the quality of the squad."
Tiago Petrony finished the trio's meeting with the press: "The first thing I felt was really happy. It was something we had to do, because Portugal hadn't own this title for 10 years. The spirit of this squad is fantastic and we are hungry for titles. That is what we are working for and we will go for the win, no matter who we play against."
