Gelson Dala ready for action

On day two of the pre-season campaign, Gelson Dala is proving hungry to get straight into the action.

"We are still going through our medical exams, but I am really eager to get into training. I don't know everyone yet, but it has been great so far. We haven't had a lot of time to get to know each other, but you can see the team is feeling confident. The lads are really focused", said Dala.

Bruno de Carvalho prepares to open another Sporting Academy School

Whenever a new Sporting Academy School opens, president Bruno de Carvalho makes the effort to get out and do the honours. Coming after the inauguration of the Costa Rica facility, Angola was next up and the Alvalade president used the occasion to sit down in an interview with TV Zimbo.

"We haven't closed a single Sporting Academy School. Some of the other big clubs just give their name out and don't create a link. Sporting CP always visits regularly, helping the coaches and coordinators and making sure the installations are fit for the job. That is where our success comes from", said Bruno de Carvalho, adding a word on the local talent: "Young Angolan players have a lot of talent, you can see it. On top of that, it is really important to build up relationships with other Portuguese speaking countries. This idea isn't a new one, but we brought together different areas to make it happen. It is a privilege to be here."

The Sporting CP president inevitably added a few comments on Ary Papel and Gelson Dala:"Ary and Gelson are with us through a protocol with 1.º de Agosto which has had some practical results. Dala shows a maturity above what we would see as average and he is always focused. Ary is a bit younger, so we thought a period out on loan in the top division would help his growth."

Gelson Dala happy with his return to action and four goals against Olhanense

Back from a two-week spell on the sidelines through injury, Gelson Dala ran riot this Sunday against Olhanense, netting four goals in a 5-1 win.

"It was one way. We will keep putting the work in, because we have to keep up this run of wins. We are on the right track", said the Angolan forward at the final whistle, adding: "There is nothing better than coming back from injury and scoring four goals. I feel great, because I was out for two weeks. I want to thank my teammates, because without them I wouldn't have done it."

Gelson Dala shares his thoughts on his first few months in Lisbon

It isn't unusual for a player to be living the dream in representing Sporting CP. Gelson Dala, who made the move to Lisbon from Angola in January, is no exception, but he is already making quite the name for himself.

“People were taking about the move for about six months and I had no idea what was going on. I was focused on my work, but of course I was really happy. I didn't want to speak anybody about it, I just kept to myself", said Dala in an interview with the Sporting Journal this week.
