Portuguese futsal starlets set four double header against Russia

The Portuguese national under-17 futsal coach, Pedro Palas, announced his sqaud list for two coming encounters against Russia next week (28th and 29th of March), in Angra do Heroísmo.

Sporting CP dominated the list, with six out of 14 hailing from Alvalade:

Luís Conceição includes Sporting CP trio for a pair of friendlies against AF Portalegre

The national under-17 futsal squad list for two coming friendly fixtures against AF Portalegre was released this Tuesday, with three Alvalade youngsters included: Beatriz Santos, Joana Pereira and Mariana Ferreira. 

The trio will be in action for the double header at 19h00 on the 14th of March and at 15h00 on the 16th of March.

National futsal coach Pedro Palas calls up six Sporting CP youngsters

The national futsal coach, Pedro Palas, has included a staggering six Sporting CP players in his under-17 squad for two coming encounters against Spain.

The six are: Tomás Paço, Ricardo Pinto, Tomás Reis, Célio Coque, Hugo Silva and Bernardo Paço.

The two encounters will be played in Madrid on the 14th and 15th of February.

Alvalade quartet for Portugal under-17's

Bernardo Sousa, Tiago Djaló, Tiago Rodrigues and Gonçalo Costa get the green light

A quartet of Sporting CP youngsters will take part in the Algarve International Tournament this year, as part of Portugal's under-17 squad.

Bernardo Sousa (midfielder), Tiago Djaló (central defender), Tiago Rodrigues (forward) and Gonçalo Costa (wing back) all feature for the encounters against England, the Netherlands and Germany. The full squad list is available here.

Sporting Museum new home for Euro winning shirts

Thierry Correia, Luís Maximiano, Rafael Leão and Miguel Luís donate their Portugal shirts to the Alvalade museum

Miguel Luís, Rafael Leão, Thierry Correia and Luís Maximiano and the rest of the Sporting CP youth team were at the Sporting Museum this week, for the four to donate their European Championship winning shirts. Accompanying the group was president Bruno de Carvalho and scouting legend Aurélio Pereira.

The players were understandably pleased with the initiative, having earned their place in the Sporting Museum before even reaching the senior squad. "It is an hour to be part of this club. I know that in 100 or even 200 years my shirt will still be here and I couldn't be happier. Hopefully I will be somebody that other players look up to in the future, like I do with the players", said Luís Maximiano, followed in the same tone by Thierry Correia: "I feel really proud. I wasn't expecting this and I really don't know what to say. I want to carry on with the club and to come back with even more trophies."

Rafael Leão also had a big smile on his face, affirming: "I am really happy. This is a huge honour for us and motivates us to carry on putting the work in. I want to win a lot more titles here, starting with the national under-19 title." Last but not least, Miguel Luís highlighted the importance of the initiative: "It is an honour for us. To come here with the president is an honour. I don't feel nervous on the pitch anymore, but I did feel a bit here today."

Sporting CP under-19 coach Tiago Fernandes was also on hand to share his thoughts. "I have been with the lads for six years now, directly or indirectly. They are really strong mentally and they all really to keep on learning. This is the cherry on the top of the cake for what they have achieved", said Fernandes, backed up by Alvalade coaching legend, Aurélio Pereira.

Three Alvalade youth team in action in Doha

Sporting CP's under-18, under-17 and under-16 teams are in action in the Aspire  Tri-Series, being hosted in Doha. The Sporting CP youngsters got off to a solid start, winning two and drawing one.

under-18:
Aspire Academy-SPORTING CP, 1-3

under-17:
Aspire Academy-SPORTING CP, 0-5

under-16:
Aspire Academy-SPORTING CP, 1-1

Sporting CP will next be in action against Buriram united.

José Maria Tiago for under-17 Euros

Alvalade hockey starlet called up to Portuguese squad

At the age of just 16, José Maria Tiago will feature in the national under-17 side for the coming Roller Hockey European Championships, taking place in the Spanish city of Oviedo from the 4th to the 10th of September.

Taking part in the tournament are: Andorra; Germany; Austria; England; Spain; France; Israel; Italy; Portugal; Switzerland.

Portugal will compete in Group A, along with Italy, Germany, Austria and Andorra.

Six Sporting under-17 stars for Portugal

Hélio Sousa includes six from Alvalade for Torneo de Naciones in Mexico

A total of six of Sporting's under-17 starlets will feature for Portugal in the Torneo de Naciones, being hosted in Mexico from the 21st to the 30th of August.

Portugal will face the USA (25th of August at 16h), Mexico (26th of August at 16h) and finally Qatar (28th of August at 16h).

The six called up are: Bernardo Sousa, Diogo Brás, Filipe Semedo, Gonçalo Costa, Tiago Djaló and Tiago Rodrigues.

Alvalade quartet for Portugal

Diogo Brandão, Rafael Lourenço, Tomás Correia, José Tiago all named

For Sporting youngsters have been called up to the national squad training camps taking place on the 6th and 7th of June, in preparation for the coming European Championships.

For the under-20's, Diogo Brandão, Rafael Lourenço and Tomás Moreira feature, while José Tiago has been named for the under-17's.

Portugal under-17's win Euro after beating Spain

Luís Maximiano, Thierry Correia, Miguel Luís and Rafael Leão all featured for Portugal

Portugal is the new European under-17 champion, after beating Spain 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

A total of four Alvalade youngsters featured in the Portuguese squad. Luís Maximiano and defender Thierry Correia featured on the bench for the final, while the midfielder Miguel Luís was introduced after 55 minutes and the forward Rafael Leão after 79 minutes.

The 80 minutes of regulation play were well balanced between the two Iberian outfits. Portugal struck first, courtesy of Diogo Dalot in the 27th minute. However, the advantage didn't last and the Spanish drew level five minutes later. The decisive penalty was taken by Morlanes, who turned his shot against the crossbar.
