Hailing from London, Marcus Edwards joined Tottenham Hotspur's youth teams at just 8 years of age. He progressed through the Spurs' ranks and made his debut with England's Under-16s in 2013. His talent did not go unnoticed by Mauricio Pochetino who, in 2016, called him up for pre-season training with the first team which led to Marcus' official debut in a League Cup match in September that year. As a European U-19s champion for England in 2017, he was loaned out to Norwich City where he had a short stint.
The 208/19 season brought Edwards to the Eredivisie (Dutch League) where he stood out for his dribbling ability. It was his creativity e ability to penetrate the opposition's defensive line that enticed Vitoria SC to sign him in 2019. With Guimarães he made his debut at European club level, scored 20 goals and stood out to Sporting CP where he now arrives for the second half of the 2021/22 season.
Speaking as a brand new "Lion", Edwards said he was very happy to be joining the ranks of Portugal's biggest club and excited by the prospect of playing front of the home crowd of "Sportinguistas" at the Jose Alvalade Stadium.
