Lithuanian forward undergoes procedure on right knee

The player Lukas Spalvis under went a surgical procedure on his right knee this weekend, to repair a double rupture suffered early in the week.

The procedure was performed Dr. Pedro Pessoa at the CUF-Descobertas Hospital.

Splavis is expected to be out of action for six months.

Lithuanian forward out for six months

The Lithuanian forward Lukas Spalvis as suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament nad meniscus on his right knee. The athlete will undergo surgery by Dr. Pedro Pessoa and is expected to be out of action for six months.

Bosko Bjelanovic undergoes procedure

Sporting CP handball star has successful operation on right knee

The athlete Bosko Bjelanovic has undergone an arthroscopy on his right knee, to treat a meniscal and chondral injury.

The procedure was completed as normal and the athlete is expected to be out of action for three months.

European governing body publishes article on conference hosted in Lisbon

UEFA has ran a news piece on an event organised by Sporting CP, focusing on the development of treatments and the prevention of injuries. also taking part in the conference were representatives from Barcelona, Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Porto, Manchester United, Juventus, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, AS Roma, Paris Saint-Germain, Galatasaray, Basel, Anderlecht, Maribor and Atlético de Madrid.

The UEFA Elite Club Injury Study talks provide clubs and football associations with the opportunity to exchange know-how in how to best treat their players and in how to avoid injury in nthe first plce. The stidy was launched in 2001 and is coordinated by the president of UEFA's Medical Committee, Jan Ekstrand.

"Elite club doctors and medical experts from across Europe have joined UEFA in Lisbon for the latest UEFA Elite Club Injury Study seminar, which centred on developments and experiences in dealing with player injuries during the past season. Sporting Clube de Portugal hosted the gathering in the Portuguese capital", notes the article on the UEFA official website.

Tobias Figueiredo has undergone an arthroscopy on his right knee in Hospital CUF - Descobertas. The operation was undertaken by Dr. Pedro Pessoa and went as planned.

The player is expected to be out of action for 6 weeks.
