First training session on Swiss soil

Squad of 29 already in training with Jorge Jesus in Lausanne

Sporting CP held their first training session in Switzerland at the beginning of the week, with Jorge Jesus putting his squad of 29 through their standard exercise routine.

The 90-minute session in the Juan Antonio Samaranch Stadium also serves as a chance for the players to get used to the pitch ahead of tomorrow's match against Monaco.

Jorge Jesus announces squad list for pre-season stay in Lausanne

Sporting CP has announced the official squad list who will work with Jorge Jesus in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Goalkeepers:

Azbe Jug; Luis Maximiano; and Vladimir Stojkovic

Defenders:

João Pereira; Ezequiel Schelotto; Ruben Semedo; Sebastian Coates; Paulo Oliveira; Naldo; Ewerton; Marvin Zeegelaar; Jefferson; and Ricardo Esgaio

Midfielders:

Alberto Aquilani; João Palhinha; Radosav Petrovic; Ryan Gauld; Carlos Mané; Bryan Ruiz; Matheus Pereira; Bruno César; Gelson Martins; Iuri Medeiros; and Daniel Podence

Slimani, Podence and Spalvis in top form with two goals each

The squad had their first kick around of the pre-season this Saturday morning, in a session pitting the senior team against the B team in a match that finished with 10 goals.

After getting his players warmed up, Jorge Jesus fez put out his first XI of the season. After 60 minutes of action on what was an exceptionally warm day, the Sporting coach rang the changes and it wasn't long before Slimani, Podence and Spalvis had put the result to bed.

Jorge Jesus with a squad of 32 for the 8th pre-season session

The squad were back out on the pitch this week for what was their 8th pre-season training session of the pre-season.

The session also gave the players a chance to wish Alberto Aquilani happy birthday, with the Italian even being presented a cake by his teammates! Meanwhile Wallyson is being introduced to full training after recovering from injury.

Algerian forward touched down in Lisbon this week and is eager to get back into action

Slimani might only have arrived back in Lisbon this week, but he is already out on the training pitch. Landing at lunch time, the Algerian was with the rest of the squad for the afternoon session.

Speaking with Sporting TV and the Sporting Journal, Slimani revealed that he has been missing the action: "I arrived back a bit later because I had some family issues to take care of and we in Ramadan as well. I feel great and I am looking forward to getting back to work. Of course I missed training, and the players and staff too. Our objective is to win the league and we want to do well in the Champions League as well. I have been paying attention to the new lads we brought in and it is down to the coach to pick the squad. I want to break my goals record and If I keep doing my job then it won't be difficult, with the help of the fans. We play for them and we win for them. They are always with us and that won't change."

Jesus leads the last training session at the end of first week of pre-season

The Sporting squad were back out on the pitch this Saturday morning, in what would be their last training session ahead of a much deserved day off.

Their were smiles all round as Jesus put his players through their paces. Wallyson was the only player unavailable for the full session, with the midfielder still working with the club's medical department.

The squad will take Sunday off, before getting back out onto the pitch on Monday morning.

Ahead of what would be a busy evening celebrating the club's 110th birthday, Jorge Jesus had his squad out on the training pitch for an early morning session Friday.

The Sporting coach had a total of 31 players at his disposal for the session: Azbe Jug, Vladimir Stojkovic, Guilherme Oliveira, Luís Maximiano, João Pereira, Ezequiel Schelotto, Ricardo Esgaio, André Geraldes, Sebastián Coates, Paulo Oliveira, Ewerton, Naldo, Rúben Semedo, Jefferson, Marvin Zeegelaar, Bruno Paulista, Radosav Petrovic, João Palhinha, Ryan Gauld, Alberto Aquilani, Federico Ruiz, Bruno César, Carlos Mané, Daniel Podence, Gelson Martins, Matheus Pereira, Iuri Medeiros, Alan Ruiz, Teo Gutiérrez, Lukas Spalvis and Hernán Barcos.

"We would do it all again right now"

Bruno de Carvalho sits down the the press to close the last training session of the season

Of course present for Sporting's last training session of the season this week, Bruno de Carvalho took a moment with Sporting TV at the end of the day's work to reflect on the campaign.

"We had a reason full of highs. the players trained today as if it was the first day of the season. We didn't reach our objective, but we are really proud of what we did. Unfortunately we didn't finish in first, but we would do it all again right now, no problem at all," affirmed the Alvalade president, adding: "The fans were magnificent and all I can do is say thank you. The way we were supported in Alvalade after getting back from Braga was mutual recognition between the players and the fans. There is no point speculating now and all we want to do is get back to work."

Bruno de Carvalho finished with a promising look to the future: "Sporting is back, we are solid and focused. We did out job and we didn't let the pressure get to us. We are all really proud of what we achieve this season."

Charity training session in Alvalade

More than 8,000 fans donate 3,000 presents for children in need

Sporting's main squad were back on the training pitch this Saturday afternoon after the Christmas break, in a special session open to club Members and fans in Estádio José Alvalade. More than 8,000 turned out to cheer the players on, answering the club's call to bring along presents to be given to children in need.

It wasn't only the fans who were feeling in a charitable mood, with president Bruno de Carvalho and the players adding their own gifts to the more than 3,000 packed under the club's Christmas tree.

"We will do this again, because a lot of people need our support. We want to go into 2016 together, united. We know where we want to go and the fans will help us get there. I want to thank they players and the fans for everything they have done and the support they have given us", affirmed Bruno de Carvalho at the end of the day.

There was still time at the end of the day for Jorge Jesus to share a few words: "Thank you all for contributing to this cause. Five months ago I said there would be one more team fighting for the title. Today that is what we are doing."
