Alvalade the focal point of massive food donation

The Sporting Foundation sponsored a food collection this Sunday, in support of the brave firemen and women who are fighting against wildfires around the country, most notably in Pedrógao Grande.

In two and a half hours more than 200 people made their way to Alvalade ready to help. A total of half a ton of fruit was donated, including 250kg of bananas, more than 200kg of oranges and 50kg of apples.

Also gathered were 600 litres of water, 50 litres of milk and 2,500 energy bars.

There was also no shortage of medical supplies, with donations coming in of saline and creams of treating burns.
